MichaelMichael Brewer, graduate of the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), is a multimedia artist with a 25 year career that has spanned the globe. At 19, he founded the entertainment magazine "What's Happenin'", which went on to become the largest publication of its kind in Southern California. Michael later established a freelance graphic design and illustration studio in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the 80s, the Bay Area was a hotbed for self-development and alternative thinking and exploration. Michael met Tom when he designed the cover for Tom's first book in 1983 and they have been best of friends ever since, sharing paths of personal and spiritual learning and growth. Michael was a regular columnist and cartoonist for local gay publications and facilitated men's groups. 1990, Michael moved to Switzerland where he founded Word+Image a leading European provider of text, translation, graphics and multimedia. He has been active in the Men's Movement as a support group facilitator and has led cutting edge workshops high in the Swiss Alps. Michael has had numerous exhibitions of his fine art paintings and sells his illustrations worldwide at www.images.com  and Word+Image. Michael has contributed to several anthologies on the topics of gay sexuality and spirituality. Today, Michael lives outside Zurich, Switzerland with his husband and daughter. This film was born the week Tom came to Fire Island, New York to be best man at Michael's wedding to Remo in 2001. In Out & About, Michael has merged his talents and experience as a filmmaker, writer, designer, illustrator, photographer, philosopher and actor and so much more, in a quest to share knowledge and experience in an entertaining and uplifting format.
Out & About with Brewer & Berg won the Audience Choice Award and a standing ovation at its premiere at the Aloha Spirit Film Festival in Kona, Hawaii.
